Summer Gaming Days at Edwardsville Library

This summer there will be Gaming Days in the library meeting room for ages 10 and up on Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m. starting June 12 and ending July 24 .

On July 17 Gaming Day will be from 1-4 p.m.

We'll have Star Wars Battlefront, Halo2, Guitar Hero, DDR and more.

Free drinks and snacks.

No registration needed. See you there!

Gaming, DDR, Karaoke and More!

The first Gaming Night of the new year will be Saturday, Jan. 20 from 6-10 p.m. in the library meeting room. Halo will prevail.

Like to Karaoke? Anyone who performs a song with our new Partytyme Karaoke dvd's can put their name in a drawing for some gift certificates (Target, St. Louis Bread Co., Walmart).

We'll also give out Showplace movie tickets to the dancer with the highest DDR score.

Of course, there'll be pizza, soda and candy.

Call the library (692-7556) to register or just show up (bring friends).

Hey gaming fans! It's been a little over a month since the last gaming event and the last update. As some of you know my wife was due with our first baby this month and good news! She's here! My daughter, Tess Isabel, was born March 13th at 6:38AM. We're all doing well!

April 28th will be the next Gaming @ your library event in Roxana at the Roxana Public Library. Be sure to RSVP!

If you're planning on attending the April event and want to bring your own gaming equipment, let me know!

Hey Gaming fans! The next event is not until April, I know I know, its a long wait. But...my wife is expecting our first daughter by the end of March, so I will be taking some time off during March.

To pass the time, tell your friends and RSVP so we know how many to expect!

It was great to see so many familiar faces and many new ones at the last event. I added a few more pictures courtesy of Barb from the Edwardsville Public Library.

Also, encourage your local library to look into hosting a gaming night. Volunteer to help if you can!

To the libraries: I hope to have some training on hosting gaming nights very soon. I'd like to see these continue even after I am not able to help put them on (dont worry, I'll still be working on these through september 2006)!

Edwardsville Public Library hosted the second Gaming @ your library event and it was another great time!

I uploaded the photos I have here and Barb will be emailing me with more next week. Thanks to all who showed up tonight. We had some familiar faces from the first event and some new faces. Thank you all!

Congrats to the Fighting Mongooses on their championship in Star Wars Battlefront II. They had some tough competition but managed to keep a good track record throughout the night.

I'm exhausted and its past bed time so I leave you with our Nintendo crew ;)

I'm looking to add some consoles and TVs for this event since we had such a huge turnout for the Glen Carbon event.

If you can bring an Xbox and a copy of Halo 2 OR Star Wars Battlefront II, e-mail me and let me know.

Also, if you can bring your own Xbox controllers do that as well.

We're just about a week away from the next event. RSVP if you haven't already so we know how many to expect!

Wow. I am exhausted. We had over 60. Over 60 teens came out for the first Gaming @ your library event.

To everyone who made it out, thanks. You guys made this a great time.

Tell your friends, and leave some comments here on the site to let us know what you thought. We'll do this again in 4 weeks, at the Edwardsville Public Library.

I'll do what I can to get more TVs, controllers, and consoles out for the next one!

I just want to give a shout out to Rob Tayor at the Got Game Store in Edwardsville. I was short two Xbox controllers and Rob let me borrow two controllers on short notice. (I literally walked in, introduced myself, told him what I needed and he hooked me up!)

If you're in the area make sure you check out the store. They do game rentals, sales, trade-ins, and you can pay to play Xbox & Xbox 360 games in store. They also offer table top gaming with landscapes and figures for each game.

Last night the Glen Carbon Junior Friends group took time to meet with me instead of their usual meeting. Other than the technical difficulties with the wireless, we had a good hour to spend talking about the first event. I have some ideas of other games to look into, but it sounded like most thought DDR, Mario Kart, and Star Wars Battlefront would work well.

I'm going to do some more testing with those games and some of the others they suggested to see which ones have good multiplayer modes and if we can do split screen multiplayer on any of them.

For the libraries - on December 29th from 10AM to 3PM I will have a Gaming @ your library demo day. You can come anytime and check out the games and equipment I'll be using.

Why RSVP? By letting us know you'll be there we know how many people to expect, how much food to have, and if we need to add any extra gaming stations.

Want to invite a friend? Check out our "invite a friend" feature. If you're logged into your account, you can send your friend an email telling them about the event. The e-mail will include a link to the event and a note from you (if you decide to add one).

First Gaming @ Your Library Event - January 13th, 2006!

What: The first Gaming @ Your Library event
When/Where: Friday January, 13th 2006 from 6PM to 11PM at the Glen Carbon Centennial Library.
Who: Teens & Gamers 12 years old and up

The Glen Carbon Centennial Library is opening it's doors for the first ever Gaming @ Your Library Event brought to you by the Lewis & Clark Library System.

From 6-11PM we invite you to come and join us for an evening of Multiplayer Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 gaming. Games featured will be: Mario Kart: Double Dash, Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix (PS2), Star Wars Battlefront II (Xbox). We will have five gaming stations set up. DDR Ultramix will be projected on one of the walls, and we will have four Xboxes linked together for up to 16 player multiplayer gaming.

The cost for all this?
It's FREE

Want to help out? If you have a favorite Xbox controller, bring it with you! Test your lucky controller against gamers from your community.

Gaming @ Your Library!!

Gaming @ Your Library is a project of the Lewis & Clark Library System and it's library member partners. Starting in January Gaming @ Your Library will bring fun and exciting opportunities to interact at the library playing many popular console (Xbox, Ps2, GameCube) games.

Each Gaming @ Your Library event will take place at a different member library of the Lewis & Clark Library System. We hope to reach out to communities across our 11 county service area through this program.

What's in it for those who attend?
Simple. Fun!

Gaming @ Your Library events will be a fun filled evening of multiplayer gaming. We will be setting up consoles and TVs and linking them together for multiplayer play. Before each event we will pre-select several popular games and focus on playing those games for the evening.

Got a lucky controller? Bring it with you and see if it's luck exists outside of your home!

What's coming on this website?
In the next few weeks we will be announcing the Date and Location of our first event. You will be able to RSVP on this website by creating a Gaming @ Your Library Account.

Also, by creating an account you will be able to interact with library staff and other gamers on this website. You can create your profile and choose to share your contact information with others or keep it private (more on this in our privacy statement)

So go ahead and create your account and start interacting on this website. We're looking for ideas and feedback from teens and gamers. If you have any ideas, let us know by posting a comment!
